What is demand response?

Demand response (DR) programs help reduce electricity use during times of high demand, when the grid is under stress. Think of 4pm to 9pm, when everyone comes home from work and starts cooking, watching TV, etcetera. During these peak times, cities must often turn to expensive and polluting power plants to meet demand.

By being enrolled in a DR program, your battery system will team up with others to provide stored energy to the power supply and help stabilize the grid, lowering prices for everyone. If you receive a no-cost system through the SGIP Equity rebate, this is a requirement.
