How does my battery get installed?
We're not going to lie. There are many steps to installing your system – from site surveys to permitting, inspection, and interconnection – but Haven takes care of every step.
We’ll manage your project from start to finish, and keep you informed at each milestone. As soon as we’re ready to move to the next step, you’ll hear from us. If you ever have questions, we’re here to help.
1. Site survey
We’ll visit your home to confirm measurements, finalize equipment placement, and capture any site-specific details needed for your system.
2. Plan set design
Our engineering team will complete your system design and prepare the documents required for permitting.
3. Permitting
We’ll submit your plans to your local city or county for approval. This step often takes the longest amount of time and can vary based on the jurisdiction’s review timelines and backlog. We’ll keep you updated on progress along the way.
4. Installation
Once permits are approved, we’ll schedule your installation, complete the build, and coordinate all required inspections.
5. Interconnection
Your utility will review your system and grant approval or the official "green light" to connect it to the grid.
6. Activation
After utility approval, your system will be turned on and begin generating energy for your home.
Note on timing: Installation scheduling begins after permits are approved. Due to high demand, installation dates are typically booked several weeks in advance. As soon as your project is ready, we’ll share your projected installation timeline and lock in your date.
Why can't my system be turned on as soon as it's installed?
We cannot turn your system on until it is inspected by the city to ensure that it meets code. With a passed inspection from the city, we will then work with your utility to file for a "permission to operate" or PTO. This is green light number one.
