How do I use my battery once it's installed?
Your battery system operates in the background, charging from solar panels or from the grid. This stored energy provides bill savings and backup power without you having to do anything.
Your battery system operates in the background, charging from solar panels (or from the grid). This stored energy provides bill savings and backup power without you having to do anything. If you install solar panels, any surplus generation can be stored in your battery to use later, when time-of-use rates are high or when your panels aren't producing. In the event of an outage, your battery will automatically provide backup power to your home.
You can use your battery's app to monitor and prioritize certain functions over others. Helping you decide how you want to use your energy is something we will go over when your system is installed.
You can choose how to optimize your system:
- Bill savings: Use time-of-use schedules to prioritize using stored energy during peak pricing.
- Backup power: Fully charge your battery, then keep it in standby mode. During an outage, it will supply power to your home automatically.
- Self-consumption: Prioritize using as much of the electricity that you generate to power your home and store any excess in your battery to tap into at night or whenever there's no sun.
New state rebates and incentives offer a chance to secure low-cost or even no-cost solar and battery systems. In California, for example, eligible homeowners can receive a free system through the SGIP program.
