Will I lose my NEM status if I get an SGIP rebate?

If you receive an income-based SGIP rebate, you will keep your NEM status. However, you will have to switch to a time-of-use (TOU) rate plan, if you haven't already. This is mandatory. 

This is beneficial because you can charge your battery with the cheapest energy available (middle of the night/early morning) and then use that cheap energy from your battery during the afternoon and evening when the energy prices spike.

However, if you receive an SGIP rebate in which eligibility is based on other factors, such as wildfire risk or being on medical baseline, you will lose your NEM status.
